I posit the following:

Flashbacks. Almost like PTSD. Remember Vicks/Biggs and Wedge in the opening?

During part of said flashback, Kefka encourages her.

"Uwee hee hee! Good! BURN UP EVERYTHING!"
…then there's the fact that IT'S KEFKA and somehow for 012 they dialed his creepiness UP TO TWELVE.
"Sorry, babe--I only hurt you 'cause you make me." *bzzzzzap*

Quite possibly the worst bits to have suddenly come rushing back.

Then we have 013 kick in, which as far as I can tell is right when she takes in the Mobliz!kids, where she simply does not think she can fight anymore.

…also "quivering jelly" makes me think of a dessert.
