Besides the edit of Da’ath Genesis?
The second disc of the Sailor Moon DVDs, for one thing.
Something’s been bugging me about the third installment, even though I have until November to start that one off. (I find that having a pattern helps me to stay focused.)
I’ve got several twists worked in—including the one that neatly fills a former plot hole with several feet of dirt and plants a tree that grows AWESOMENESS-ENHANCING fruits. The problem is, that one opens the door for several more, and I don’t want to go overboard. (Though I will admit to enjoying the idea of OPEN FACTION WAR. Makes the conflict real for more than the central four characters. Then again maybe I just enjoy rolling—and then steamrolling—redshirts.)
The third one is when love interests are going to become obvious. There’s been hints, little tastes of “Is they or ain’t they?” and even a lecherous young (for his race) healer who will hit on ANYTHING THAT MOVES—including basically the pope.
There is…a hell of a lot of Ho Yay. Which is the idea. But who’s canon and who’s going to wind up being the favored fandom slashed pairing? THAT question remains blissfully unanswerable right now. (Mmm, Ship-Tease.) Heck, my first test reader has already got a favorite pairing. (I’ll admit, they look damn good together, and they wouldn’t tear each other’s heads off in canon. Not telling whether they’re actually a thing or not, though. That would ruin the surprise.)
The romance element is actually what started off the primary idea behind the story, but the story was so…thin, with just that. Diving much, MUCH farther back into the original planned timeline makes things far more interesting than they would have been otherwise. Also, it makes more sense. Also also, the characters are much more real this time around. This idea’d been bouncing around in my head for two years before I’d even gotten this far on it, with a main character that was a borderline Sue, and I just couldn’t have that. So I rewound the start, taking him from this strangely perfect being to…a rather snarky, absentminded, sometimes surprisingly insubordinate teenager.
And then I added in his father. …let’s just say the kid gets his snark and insubordination naturally.
Long story short, it’s turned out to be more fun this way.
Time to get to watching some more Sailor Moon. =D
Then writing.
11:37 PM EDIT. I almost feel guilty for what I just put Yura through. Now granted, Hat Boy did get cocky recently, but...
It had to be done. For
