Long day. Walked from train station. Found out the Counterburst Forums are shutting down because the moderator is frustrated. Now I’m depressed and need to inflict MUCH GRIEVOUS HARM to AI opponents to vent, and get a glass of icy cold cream!tea.
MEANWHILE HAVE A MEME.
I’ve got lots of these. Some of them are shippy, and some of them are just lulzy.
WoL should have had more interaction with Lightning in this game. I know the two were joined at the incredibly sexy hip in Prologus, but the point is I’d like to have seen more of that.
Keeping on Mr. Snookie Pie here, he should have also had interaction with Shantotto. Why? Because, during ???: Shards of the Cycle, there’s some serious creepy potential there:
Shantotto: And one who appears here without being called? The perfect test subject to keep me enthralled!
Who knows, maybe it’ll show up in an official quest and someone will translate for us.
Or I’ll wind up stuck here one day, unable to get to work because the elevators are down and I can’t handle the stairs AND walking to the train station, and do it myself. Problem is I can’t think of anything suitably creepy enough here…AND THAT’S A NEAT TRICK.
We needed more Vaan & Zidane. Two thieves running around? Hell yeah, sign me up.
Laguna and WoL. Why? JUST BECAUSE. It’d be like a So Bad It’s Good comedy routine.
And on that note, we needed some interaction with both of them along with Jecht.
…gee, I make WoL sound like he’s antisocial or something.

I'd have like to have seen either some Kuja and WoL interaction or some 013!Kuja and ONION KNIGHT interaction. I know this sounds insane but hear me out: Onion Knight and Kuja are both the resident 'runts' of their team and Kuja is in many ways a proud yet scared child trying to be clever and self-assured and kind of failing due to not taking the bigger picture into account. Who do we know that's also like that? I'd have liked to see THAT dynamic play out. As for WoL and Kuja, well they share many similarities in terms of background; both are artificial lifeforms created as adults and built specifically to kill though both stray from their original purpose and take up their own path in life. Both are products of their enviroment but whilst WoL was found by Prishe and given an opportunity to shine (no pun intended...okay maybe...) Kuja had no saviour until 24 years later when Zidane offered him a helping hand and grew up selfish, cruel and alone. I'd actually prefer 012!Kuja or post013!Kuja to have interaction with WoL best...it would be a very strange but ultimately rewarding relationship I reckon.
Also we needed Kefka and Laguna action. And Lightning with Ultimecia. Just imagine the sparks that would've flown!

Date: 2011-07-15 10:49 pm (UTC)Really I would've liked to see Kuja interact with almost anyone - he's such a complex character but I think WoL and Onion Knight would've been some of the more interesting takes. Firion too due to both sharing a rebellious nature but whilst Firion is pure of heart and a noble spirit, Kuja is anything but pure and only a noble in Treno. Also I'd have liked some Kuja and Sephiroth interaction (I played the first bit of Sephy's quest - Kuja mentions that this is the first time he's seen this world but Sephiroth believes otherwise. And Emperor talks in a lot of kanji I can't understand) because...well I could go into a long ramble about how Kuj and Seph are polar opposites especially in how Seph started off as a good man and yet cast aside his humanity to become a god whilst Kuja started off as an inhumane sociopath that believed he could be a god only to eventually gain humanity and yearn to redeem himself - but I won't.
ONLY I MAY HAVE A SOLID GRASP OF THONGBOY - I CALLED DIBS! (Bugger - and still a week to go for the new phone too? Ugh.)

Well I've always been somewhat agaisnt the Sephiroth/Kuja pairing (unless it's non-con becuase at least then it's IC for both of them) in that they both hold extremely different ideals and come from opposite ends of the spectrum so to speak. As I mentioned in the previous post, Sephiroth starts out good and ends up bad whilst Kuja is the reverse. Then there's the lengths they will go to in regards to their goals:
Sephiroth is willing to serve his 'mother' and do what he believes is her bidding. (Whilst there is of course the argument over whether it's him controlling Jenova or vice-versa the point still stands that he is following her to some degree) Also he is perfectly willing to sacrifice pieces of himself such as his humanity or even parts of his psyche according to Lifestream Black to achieve his goals because he cares more about
screwing with Cloudthe end result than himself.Kuja on the other hand is someone who was created to be a servant and vehemently despises anyone attempting to control his life - he believes that since it's his life he should take charge of it and no one else. He treasures his sentience and his soul above all else and would never dream of doing anything that would threaten them, even if it were to help him attain his goals. (However at the end of FFIX and 012 he has matured a bit so that he will sacrifice his needs and possibly himself for the greater good - but he still places high emphasis on being independent to the point of rejecting help from Zidane during Shade Impulse)
I could go on but the brain shaking has kind of made me forget how to make a good argument.
Hope the new phone comes ASAP.

You know, I never thought of it like that: I mean I never thought of Sephiroth as serving anyone, but now that you've brought up that point, it all makes more sense. Now that I think about that comparison, I get the feeling that Kuja would be absolutely disgusted with such a thing. …on the off chance that during one of those non-con encounters, I can totally see him flipping that around. It would be difficult to mess with Sephy, but—and I'm grasping here—considering what finding out what he was did to him in Nibelheim…before he went batshit and torched the joint, at any rate…a pull from just the right place in the storyline could set Kuja up for some serious mindfuckery…
I've overthought that. Never mind that ramble there.
And the whole dependency/independent thing, too—Kuja carries it to such extremes, doesn't he?

I have no clue what would happen next other than Kuja would try and maintain the upper hand even if Sephiroth beat him to within an inch of his life. But I guess if Kuja pressed the right buttons...

On topic: Well, in this instance we could have a just-barely-still-Sane!roth. Kuja pushes the right buttons, goads him into a confrontation, ends it with something along the lines of:
"Well, that's just fine, then. Go—follow your dear mother's wishes. It's all you've ever done, at any rate: blindly following the orders she gives you, all so that she'll approve. …But she never will. You're nothing more than her little toy, after all."
…aaaaand cue Crazy!roth.
Now this is all off the top of my unfed head. I don't even know how IC that bit was, really, it just popped in.

Then we have 013 kick in, which as far as I can tell is right when she takes in the Mobliz!kids, where she simply does not think she can fight anymore.
…also "quivering jelly" makes me think of a dessert.
